Film and Publication Board

The Film and Publication Board (FPB) is a statutory body established in terms of the Films and Publications Act of 1996 to regulate the creation, production, possession and distribution of films, videos, DVDs, computer games and other publications by imposing restrictions (including appropriate viewership age) on these publications. The Board classifies all film material distributed in South Africa, except for that which is shown on television. Broadcasters have their own regulatory body.

The Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission was established in terms of Section 3 of the Electoral Commission Act, 1996 (Act 51 of 1996). The core function of the Commission is to oversee national, local and municipal elections and to ensure that elections are free and fair. The Commission also performs other duties as stipulated by the Act.
